Katherine Hopkinson
Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing
I qualified as a registered nurse in 1994 having trained at a local school of nursing and studied at the University of Luton which then went on to become the University of Bedfordshire.
I spent 10 years working in Trauma and Orthopaedics at a local hospital, becoming junior ward sister and acting ward manager. From there I became the manual handling trainer for all staff within the Trust, including training student nurses from the University on placement there, eventually becoming both moving and handling/back care advisor and falls improvement lead for the hospital.
I started at the University in June 2016 and am currently unit lead for Care Across the Lifespan in Adult Nursing in Year 1, Link Lecturer at Bedford Hospital and Site Co-ordinator for Adult Nursing at the Bedford Polhill campus.
