Helen Heenan
Principal Lecturer – School Lead for Apprenticeships
I am currently the NMHE school lead for apprenticeships as well as one of the Advanced Clinical Practice teaching team. My clinical background is as a registered nurse specialising in neonatal intensive care. I have been an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner since 2007, as well as a non medical prescriber.
I have previously worked within both higher and further educational institutions with a wide range of learners, including pre-registration nursing and medical students, access to healthcare students, post registration nurses and junior medical staff specialising in paediatrics and neonatal intensive care.
I am passionate about the opportunities that are provided by healthcare apprenticeships, enabling learners access to high quality education, resulting in empowered, motivated registered practitioners who are equipped to deliver high quality patient care.
