David Agom

Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing

Bukola Elizabeth OgunsemoDr. David Agom is an adult nurse with several years of clinical, leadership, and teaching experience in higher education. His journey into nursing began in Nigeria where he obtained a Bachelor of nursing science at Ebonyi State University, Nigeria. David’s dedication to lifelong learning led him to advanced degrees in nursing and education. He earned an MSc and PhD both in nursing from the University of Northampton, solidifying his expertise in pedagogical methods tailored to nursing education.

David is passionate and committed to ensuring outstanding and best positive learning experiences for the widening participation of students. His teaching philosophy is located within the constructive framework and revolves around fostering critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and ethical decision-making among his students. David aims to continually enhance and develop his teaching styles and methods in order to facilitate student learning through the provision of a facilitative as well as interactive but challenging environment for effective active learning for which students can gain subject knowledge and skills to become effective and safe practitioners.

David is also committed to research-informed teaching and has a research interest in palliative and end-of-life care, service improvement, practice learning, health inequality, adult social care, public health, and qualitative methodology with expertise in ethnography.

David joined the University of Bedfordshire in 2021 as a Senior Lecturer in adult nursing and enjoys adopting a creative and innovative approach to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. With an unyielding commitment to advancing nursing practice and nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals, David has emerged as a coordinator for nursing at Luton campus as well as Progression and Achievement Lead, leaving an indelible mark on the academic and healthcare landscape.

David is passionate about supporting doctoral researchers in their research endeavours and is currently accepting students for supervision.
