Dr Zara Ross
Senior Lecturer in Microbiology and Biotechnology
I joined the School of Life Sciences in December 2022, following a 4-year hiatus. I taught microbiology for 25 years at the undergraduate level to BSc, pre-medical and pre-veterinary students and at the graduate level teaching medical microbiology and infectious disease to international (from 104 different countries) postgraduate medical students (at an “off-shore” US teaching University within the Caribbean).
In addition, I have also created and taught a variety of Master’s level courses to MSc and MPH students. I have supervised over 20 MD/MSc students, 5 MSc and 10 BSc students to completion in a variety of different research areas including prevalence of Dengue fever, antimicrobial activity of Caribbean medical plants, prevalence of HPV, treatment of E. coli biofilms with bacteriophage and evaluation of antibiotic sensitivity profiles of clinical isolates.
