Susan Braud

Senior Lecturer in Primary Education

Susan Braud

I have worked in the School of Teacher Education for 8 years. Previously, I have held a number of extremely rewarding Headships/leadership roles in a number of different, (mainly Primary), settings. In addition, my teaching experience covers a far wider age-range, spanning (outside of my main 5-11 Primary focus), KS3 and Early Years, across an equally diverse range of settings – Maintained and Independent, single-sex and co-ed. Since joining the University of Bedfordshire, I have worked as part of a wider team to deliver training to our students at both Under-graduate and Post-graduate level. As an English specialist, I am the Unit Co-ordinator for the Early Literacy and Reading Unit and also co-ordinate the English Unit on the Post-graduate course. I build on the teaching I deliver across these units in Year 3 of the Primary Education with QTS course, co-ordinating the Foundation Subjects Elective for Final Year students, with a real focus on pending employability and potential future career openings, seeing this as very much an opportunity to engage our wide spectrum of professional partners. In addition to these unit co-ordination roles, I teach across the Professional Studies units and am a Personal Academic Tutor, a role which brings considerable rewards as I observe students flourish under our guidance during their time with us. I am responsible for much of the External Recruitment of the Faculty, supporting our Marketing and Recruitment Team, delivering presentations/careers talks, attending a range of events to represent UoB and actively supporting the aims of our Partnership – UCAS, Train to Teach, NCTL events etc. In my spare time, I also Mentor on a national leadership programme!
