Nicola Sage
Post Compulsory Education PGCE (part-time), 2018-2020
Current role
Class Teacher at Woodlands Secondary SEN School.
How my course benefited me
The course gave me confidence and a better understanding of what being a teacher entails, so much so that I was offered my own class by the end of year one. This enabled me to transfer hands on knowledge into my course work in year two.
Campus life
The tutors are friendly and are always on hand to give you support and guidance, the collaborative networking days are very informative and give you opportunities to converse with people from different campuses doing the same course.
What I most enjoyed about my degree and studying at the University of Bedfordshire
I enjoyed meeting many friends and gaining an insight into their professions, as we all work in different ways. This may also enable you to look at a different perspective and apply this to your course work. If you aspire to be a teacher this degree is the perfect route to take.
A memorable moment/s
Walking into class on my first day in 2018 and realising we were all in the same boat, and then realising I had achieved my dream of becoming a teacher when I passed my ProfGCE in 2020.
My future aspirations
To continue my professional development and work my way up the career ladder at my school, and in the future become a key stage leader.
My top tips for current students
To believe in yourself and what you can achieve. Also never be too proud to ask for support from your tutors. They are amazing!!
