Lecturer in Science, Applied Science and Social Sciences

I have been teaching across a number of educational settings since 2002. Prior to 2002, I tutored maths and sciences in Secondary schools and supported undergraduates with academic writing and seminars.

A degree in Microbiology validated my passion for sciences whilst enhancing my curiosity in medical microbiology. Simultaneously, environmental issues struck my attention which culminated in research ranging from Food Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science to Environmental Microbiology.

The prospect of Biotechnology in treatment and environmental applications got me qualifying with a Higher degree in Biotechnology and another in Applied Microbiology. Whilst enjoying laboratories and research, education and training became an integral part of my passion and Diplomas in Health and Social Care saw me supporting students of widening participation. Several of those are now leads in nursing, social work, teaching etc.

A Diploma in Education and Training followed by an Assessor’s Award helped fine tune my teaching methodologies, pedagogy and my passion for teaching further heightened.

This has culminated in me leading several Train the Trainer modules; lecturing on Mental Health modules, Public Health courses, Epidemiology and Statistics; supporting teachers and teaching in some African institutions amongst other interests.

Using a learner-focused approach, immersive learning and adapting perspectives, I strongly believe we can attain outcomes we aren’t aware we are capable of. With such skills, today’s world and its challenges can be redefined.
