Centre for Development of Social Care Practice
The Centre is a joint venture between the University of Bedfordshire and Luton Housing and Community Living and Children and Learning Departments.
The Centre provides practice learning opportunities for students on the BSc Social Work and the MSc Social Work programmes at the University. CDSCP offers placements for students undertaking their final year of the social work degree.
The Centre also provides continuing professional development opportunities for newly qualified social work students, experienced social work practitioners and social care staff who are interested in acquiring further experience and qualifications.
Centre staff
The centre is managed by Jacqueline White. Jacqueline worked in the statutory sector with children and families for 14 years and in adult social care for 7 years. During this period she acquired the Practice Teaching Award and has extensive experience of supporting social work students through their practice learning placements.
As well as being a trained Family Meeting Co-ordinator, Jacqueline is also the Manager of Luton Family Meeting Service (known traditionally as Family Group Conferencing Services).
Within the Centre there is also a Practice Development Co-ordinator, who oversees the day to day management of the student social work team. The Practice Development Co-ordinator is a fully qualified and experienced Social Worker and Practice Educator.
