Our postgraduate students learn in a modern and vibrant environment suited to today’s real-world approach to teaching.


  • All our Art and Design students develop their practice in our spacious studios in Luton’s Alexon House, previous home of a leading British fashion company, with access to a 3D workshop; print room; 3D printer; and digital pattern cutter.
  • The studio culture for Interior Architecture and Design students reflects industry with high-spec computers using software such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks and Sketchup as well as a 3D workshop for models.
  • Photography students have their own high-spec photography studio; digital and analogue dark room; and professional monitors, cameras and printers.
  • Our Fashion Design studio replicates the commercial world and includes 3D-modelling and avatar software such as Browzwear’s VStitcher.
  • Animation and Graphic Design students work to industry standards in our stop-motion suite and green-screen room; Mac computers also give them access to Creative Cloud, Dragonframe and TB Paint software.

  • You have access to Harvard Business Publishing, international learning resources providing advanced business simulations in areas such as sustainability and digital processes.
  • Our Reuters trading room allows you to experience what it’s like to be on the trading-room floor, reacting to live ‘stock-market’ data.
  • We have a new business analytics suite to support learning in data analytics, 'big-data', data mining, digital marketing, SEO and management skills.
  • Learning is supported with a range of immersive simulation software including Simulate (Aviation); Semrush (Marketing); Opera Hotel (Hospitality Management); Sage, Refinitiv Eikon and the econometrics software STATA (Accounting, Finance and Economics).
  • Law students practise court proceedings in a simulated moot court.
  • All Business students have access to high-spec computer suites.

Our nursing, midwifery and allied healthcare students have an extensive range of simulated settings in which to practise their skills in a safe, supported environment.

  • Brewster Square, our brand-new simulation floor in Luton’s STEM building, which takes you from mock home to hospital, giving hands-on experience of scenarios you will encounter in the real world/
  • Simulated wards with medical-grade mannequins for our Nursing and Midwifery students.
  • A mock operating theatre with anaesthetic equipment and recover room for Operating Department Practitioner students.
  • A simulation ‘flat’ with a bedroom, bathroom, living area and moving/handling room for Occupational Therapy students.
  • A dedicated physio suite for Physiotherapy students, who can also use our simulation suites to further their practice.
  • Two clinical-training ambulances (simbulances) for Paramedic Science students as well as a ‘real-life’ simulation area at our Bedford campus comprising assisted living space; industrial space with scaffolding; hoarder’s room; nightclub area; social deprivation room; a lounge and cluttered bedroom; and space imitating a car park.

  • In Luton’s modern STEM building, we offer a range of research laboratories including a cell culture lab and analytical science suite with HPLC, FTIR and GCMS machines.
  • Technology and specialised industry-standard equipment for high-end pharma-biotech experiments such as qPCR and protein purification and characterisation.
  • Forensic Science students have a specialist forensic laboratory with industry-standard microscopes, an insectary and analytical equipment such as GC-MS, HPLC and qPCR; a mock crime-scene flat with living room, dining room, bedroom and bathroom; and access to the simulated moot court to practise for court appearances.
