Part 2: Practice Assessor

Introduction

Part 2 is open to all registered nursing staff (once NHS preceptorship competences have been returned for newly registered nurses) and have completed Part 1.

Learning outcomes

By the end of Part 2 you will be able to:

  1. Identify how to make an objective assessment and what makes an assessment unreliable.
  2. Describe the different types of assessments and how these are recorded.
  3. Identify reasonable adjustments within assessment.
  4. Identify the differences between action planning and development planning and the support available.
  5. Evaluate the grading criteria and identify how to standardise the assessment.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to become a reflective assessor and how to evidence personal development.
