Part 1: Practice Supervisor & Practice Assessor
Introduction
Part 1 is designed for nursing staff who have completed their preceptorship (NHS). It is recognised that staff who are currently completing the preceptorship programme are also learning, but may undertake Part 1 six months after the start of their first clinical post.
Learning outcomes
By the end of Part 1 you will be able to:
- Describe the roles of the Practice Supervisor (PS), Practice Assessor (PA) and Academic Assessor (AA)
- Understand and be able to use the coaching GROW model.
- Describe the importance of 'feedback' and 'feed forward'.
- Understand the process of raising concerns.
- Identify appropriate learning outcomes relevant to level of study and support students to write their own.
- Describe how to prepare a student for the assessment of an episode of care.
