Activity 2
Proficiencies and assessment (MORA)
1. Write an authentic fact-fiction scenario of no more than 150 words featuring a notional learner who is being assessed in practice against at least two proficiencies taken from the MORA.
You will need to choose a proficiency that features a clinical skill, and the other proficiency must relate to a professional behaviour.
Your scenario must describe both an assessment and the outcome of the assessment for your notional learner.
2. Now evaluate your scenario against the following criteria:
- Did the assessment allow the learner to demonstrate the full range of the competency through the activity?
- Was the assessment reliable [trustworthy]?
- How easy would it have been to make the judgement?
- What would be the value of seeking the learner’s view of the assessment?
- Did the assessment measure what you wanted at the right level?
- How many learners might have failed the assessment?
- Would you have felt confident undertaking the assessment with the learner?
- How could the assessment be made better?
