Acceptable Use Policy

An acceptable use policy (AUP) is a policy that a user must agree to follow in order to be provided with access to a network or to the Internet.

It is common practice for many businesses and educational facilities to require that employees or students sign an acceptable use policy before being granted a network ID.

CST Policies

The CST Policies have been generated to ensure the smooth running of the facility, compliance with legal requirements and with the feedback of the school's students.

The Technical Support Team have the task of ensuring the policies are followed by the students of the University, however they would rather be helping you with your course work than having to ask you to follow the policies.

Please help the Technical Support Team by reading and following the polices within the labs, it will make the environment more friendly for all the users of the facilities.

CST Labs Usage

The CST labs are for the sole use of students undertaking computing modules within the School of Computer Science & Technology. These computing facilities are in addition to the resources within the excellently equipped LRC (Learning Resource Centre).

Please Note:

The following items are not allowed to be used or consumed within the CST Labs. Please note: this also includes drinks.

Warning

All students are warned to treat the University machines as potentially unsecured, there may be keyloggers etc. installed by other students, do not use the machines in the labs for online shopping or banking.

Some of the software exhibits behaviour that could be classed as a denial of service attack, our service provider if they detect this behaviour can take the University off the Internet until it is resolved which would affect all student's ability to use the internet.
