An Introduction to Mainframe Security
Guest Lecture Cancelled for Wednesday 23rd October 2024 and will take place in the New Year 2025 (date to be confirmed)
Mark Wilson - Guest Lecture
From 0 – 60 in 90 minutes…
Guest Lecture: Mark Wilson GSE UK Region Manager and GSE UK Conference Manager
Mark will start with What an Earth is a Mainframe, why it’s used and more importantly who uses them.
He will then discuss the options for securing a mainframe system, the typical configurations and the typical/common security vulnerabilities.
Mark will also explain that when it comes to Cybersecurity, a mainframe is just another server or IP address with a few mainframe oddities thrown in, so don’t be scared of it. The hackers certainly aren’t. There will be lots of stories some true and some anecdotal of mainframe hacking.
Current state of graduate vacancies in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering (Linux and Open-Source software, or IBM’s z/OS and applications), and AI, will be discussed at this session.
