Within the School we have several active societies that host events throughout the year on a wide variety of topics.
UoB BCS Student Chapter
We are a group of students passionate about using technology to create a sustainable future. Our mission is clear: to think innovatively to offer new solutions, to learn from one another and to learn together, Our motto, “Building a Better Tomorrow Together” reflects our commitment to sustainability, nature, humanity and innovation in everything we do, whilst having fun, organising events, going places and growing ourselves. Our activities bridge computing and environmental stewardship.

Beds Computing
This is the official University of Bedfordshire Computing Society which aims to provide a platform for students with an interest in computing to meet and exchange ideas.
It arranges events, talks, trips, and networking sessions with tech companies for it's members.
It is organised as a student chapter of BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT
Previous events have included:
- Talk by the Director of Google’s Self-Driving Cars Project
- Visit to The National Museum of Computing
Beds Computing received the BCS ‘chapter of the year’ award “for an outstanding events programme and demonstration of professionalism.”
The Cyber Security Club @ UoB
The Cyber Security Club @ UoB is open to all students interested in Computer Security, Cybersecurity, and Digital Forensics. The club aims to promote the study area across all levels of programmes within the School of Computer Science and Technology. The club's goal is to promote knowledge transfer of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics as well as social interaction.

Bedfordshire Enterprise and Mainframe Society - BEAMS
This is a group of students who are dedicated to learning about mainframe technologies.
IET - Institution of Engineering and Technology
The School sponsors our BEng engineering students with student membership of the Institution of Engineering and Technology
