About the course

Modern organisations increasingly utilise big data and analytics tools to make decisioAdvanced HEns across a range of business activities, from people analytics to fintech and competitor analysis. On this course, you learn the main tools and techniques for managing and analysing big data and developing innovative and meaningful data-driven solutions to organisational challenges and opportunities.

Strategy

The aims of the Unit are: 

  • To enable students to develop a critical and informed understanding of the business environment in which organisations operate and of the business opportunities.
  • To equip students with a range of tools and concepts of strategic analysis and business modelling that will enable them to assess the strategic position of business organisations.
  • To develop strategic thinking and vision that can be utilised in formulating strategies, evaluating options and implementing strategic decisions

Capstone

The aims of the Unit are:

  • To bring theory and practice together to formulate a topic of your choice relevant to your field of study
  • To provide you with the opportunity to explore a topic and appreciate the importance of literature review in the learning process
  • To reflect on research methodology and implement the suitable approach for the selected research
  • To enhance skills in time-management, research management, project organisation and decision-making for a relevant research outcome
  • To apply and reflect on the practicalities of research including access to sources and ethical consideration

Every taught unit on this course is delivered in a six-week block, allowing you to start at a time that suits you. You have 24/7 access to learning resources for independent study. Gain a data-driven mindset alongside the ability to make critical, high-level managerial and organisational decisions. Our academic teams are either industry experienced or still working in their field; involved in consultancy on real-world projects; active in research; and keep at the leading edge through regular CPD, conferences and industry events.

Our industry links and collaborations offer students real-world experience and integrated live projects, where you engage with real firms, solve real issues, and build your competencies, confidence and networks. Engage in our Global Guest Speaker series, featuring high-profile academics, industry experts and business leaders from organisations such as TUI; Luton Borough Council; the European Commission; and professional bodies. Participate in field trips to exhibitions like The Business Show and The Tech Show as well as industry and company visits, gaining first-hand insights.
