The external speaker Dr Emrah Bilgic shared his research on "Business Analytics Education: A Literature Review and the Role of Digital Pedagogy in Enhancing Teaching Methods". This study reviews the existing literature on "business analytics education," identifying key challenges, gaps, and the current state of analytics programs in business schools. The rapid growth of data in the business world has driven the demand for skilled business analytics professionals. While substantial attention has been given to this field, there is a need for continued research, particularly in curriculum design and teaching. Digital pedagogy, particularly frameworks like SAMR and TPACK, offers significant potential for enhancing business analytics education. The SAMR model helps assess how technology can transform learning, from basic tools to innovative, collaborative tasks. TPACK integrates content, pedagogy, and technology to create engaging, real-world learning experiences, ensuring that students gain both technical skills and critical analytical thinking needed in today’s data-driven business environment.
Dr Emrah Bilgic is a lecturer in Business Analytics with 15 years of experience in higher education. He holds an Associate Professorship in Turkey, where he has worked at various universities. Emrah served as a visiting researcher at the University of Louisville, USA, for one year. He has taught a variety of analytics-related courses, including Business Research, Business Analytics, Decision Making, and Operations Research. His main research area is Business Analytics teaching. Currently, he is a lecturer at De Montfort University Business School in Leicester since 2023.
