Dr Janice Johnson gave a CLI research seminar on 17 January 2018, titled 'The Impact of racism and new managerialism on Black female academics in English post-1992 universities'.

Discussion following the seminar focused on the implications for teaching HRM, and specifically, on diversity management. This was the first of two seminars on current research and implications for teaching HRM; the second is to be given by Dr Daniel King, Associate Professor at Notthingham Trent University.
