Sharjah Award for the best PhD thesis
Dr Hani Shaiti (Hani bin Khalid Shetty), who received his PhD in Accounting Information Systems in September 2014, has received the prestigious Sharjah Award for the Best PhD thesis in Administrative and Finance Science in the Arab Region for 2015.
Hani was supervised by Professor Yanqing Duan and Dr Syamarlah Rasaratnam. His thesis explained how Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system success, organisational and ERP factors affect the effectiveness of internal control procedures.
In particular, his research developed a research model to establish the relationships between organisational factors, ERP factors, ERP success and effectiveness of internal control procedures and the model with empirical evidence collected in the context of the Saudi Arabia business environment.
The Award for the Best PhD Thesis in Administrative and Finance Sciences in the Arab World started in 2001.
The competition entries cover all doctoral studies in different fields such as administration, marketing, financing, accounting, information system management, creativity and innovation in business administration that can help to enhance performance in government and private sectors.
The award is organized by the Institute of Administrative Development in co-operation with the Arab Administrative Development Organization. The award consists of a certificate, a trophy and a monetary award of $10,000. This prize is a well-known prize in Arabic world, it is sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah (UAE).
