BMRI seminar and workshop by Dr Riedel
Dr Johann C.K.H. Riedel, Principal Research Fellow at the Nottingham University Business School delivered two lectures in the University of Bedfordshire Business School, Luton on Tuesday 16 November 2016.
In the morning session, he discussed results of his research titled '3D Printing – Promise & Potential in UK Manufacturing'. His presentation discussed a realistic assessment of transformative potential of 3D printing using a survey on the awareness and adoption in UK Manufacturing.
In the afternoon, he facilitated a workshop on how to be successful at winning EU Research Funding. Dr Riedel first gave an overview of some successful strategies for obtaining EU research funding based on his experience. He then presented examples of the need for perseverance in getting funding through a case study of one successful proposal/project that took three submissions over three years. He discussed some of the reasons why proposals fail, again using an example. The entire workshop was well attended by BMRI staff members and students, who, during the interactive workshop clarified a number of issues related to their bidding activities.
