BISC Seminar by Prof Xu

Professor Mark Xu from Portsmouth Business School, Portsmouth University, visited the Business School on 8 December 2016 and delivered two themed talks based on his successful experience in applying and managing KTP projects.

Mark’s first talk was about “How to make a successful KTP application”. He introduced the KTP scheme and learning from recent KTP experience, with highlights of tips in writing the KTP proposal for funding success and managing the partnership to successful completion. Examples included two ways knowledge flow, innovation that addresses both practical and academic challenges, and commercialisation.

In his second talk, Mark presented the research outcomes of a successful KTP project. He discussed a three-tier virtual pooled inventory control model for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations). The model has been developed as an academic outcome from the KTP.

Professor Mark Xu

Mark is Professor of Information Management and Head of Operations & Systems management at University of Portsmouth Business School. He received Ph.D. in MIS from UK Open University (FT) in 1998. His specialist interests are strategic information management and systems; E (M) Commerce implementation and logistics; ICT adoption and knowledge management. Mark has over 70 publications in international journals and lead several research and knowledge transfer projects in Marine and Telecom industry, Global Supply Chain Management in MRO; Food safety systems in agriculture industry.
