PhD research title: Corporate governance and triple bottom line performance of microfinance institutions: empirical evidence from South Asia
PhD description: My thesis investigates the impact of various corporate governance mechanisms on the financial, social and environmental performance of microfinance institutions (MFIs). The study has been undertaken in the South Asian region, where the concept of modern microfinance emerged and thus received worldwide recognition. It uses multiple theories to explain the hypothesised relationships and the two-step system generalised method of moment (GMM) to control for endogeneity problems between governance mechanisms and triple bottom line sustainability performance of MFIs.
