I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the Faculty of Law of Ankara University, Turkey, in 1996. In 1997, I completed my professional training at the Ankara Bar. In the same year, I became a research assistant in the Department of Commercial Law of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of Celal Bayar University Manisa.

I completed my master thesis entitled "Deposits in Turkish Banking Law", at Marmara University, Institute of Social Sciences, in 2001. I defended my doctoral thesis, entitled "Unjust Enrichment in Negotiable Instruments" and was awarded my PhD by the same Institute in 2007.

Having worked for three years at Celal Bayar University, I joined the Department of Commercial Law within the Faculty of Law at Erzurum Atatürk University in 2010 as an assistant professor.

I have had a number of articles published in various academic law journals in Turkey, and my doctoral thesis was published in 2008. In addition, I was the editor of "Introduction to Law" published by Atatürk University Open Education Faculty, and have contributed several chapters to edited volumes on topics of commercial law, commercial enterprise law, and the law relating to negotiable instruments.

I have lectured on undergraduate, Masters level and doctoral programmes. I teach undergraduate students commercial enterprise law, company law and the law of negotiable instruments. In Masters level and doctoral programmes, I teach courses on institutions of company law, unfair competition and a course on comparative institutions of the law relating to private limited companies. I am at present the supervisor of 7 Master and 3 doctorate students.

I continue to act as project supervisor for two research projects which are supported by the Programme of Scientific Research Projects in Atatürk University. In addition, I conduct promotion and training activities in relation to the new Turkish Commercial Code in north-eastern Turkey in association with the Erzurum Chamber of Commerce and the Development Agency of North-Eastern Anatolia. I have also given seminars for the Manisa Bar Association for trainee lawyers in various areas of commercial law.

In 2012, I was a visiting academic at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies of the University of London and at the School of Law of the University of Edinburgh.
