Fiona Cameron
Senior Researcher, Families Together Project
Fiona is one of the founders of the Refugee Legal Assistance Project (RLAP) and has been a Visiting Fellow at CRiL since 2014. Fiona is currently involved in the Families Together research project as a senior research officer.
Fiona holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Sussex and a MSc in NGO Management from CASS Business School, and has over 15 years’ experience of working with refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants both in the UK and the Middle East.
She has covered a wide variety of positions, including running St Andrew’s Refugee Services in Cairo, and the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum. She undertakes consultancy work in project design and evaluation, and has conducted research in the refugee camps of South Sudan and in urban Cairo.
As well as the Refugee Legal Assistance Project at CRiL, Fiona founded Voices in Refuge, a community interpreting project, and has recently started working on a project with the Department of Law at the University of Nottingham developing remote legal support for unaccompanied children in Cairo. She is also currently working on the EU Settlement Scheme at Nottingham Law Centre.
