Studiosity - Online Academic Writing Feedback
Studiosity is a free online system that provides 24/7 study support to students on written assignments.
Studiosity checks through the uploaded document for these features of good academic writing:
- Choice of language
- Critical thinking
- Grammar and Spelling
- Referencing sources of information
- Structure
Studiosity cannot provide subject-specific feedback, but it will help to improve the quality of your academic writing before submitting it for marking.
Studiosity is safe to use, and it will not come up as an artificial (AI) text generator for assignment submissions.
This online student platform offers academic writing feedback, allowing students to improve the quality of their written work, without automatically changing it. This means that University of Bedfordshire students can learn in a safe environment while developing skills needed for the working world.
Studiosity can make sense of the language used and provide advice relevant to the nature of the document being prepared.
Both services are available 24/7, 365 days a year, and eligible students can access them by logging into BREO and clicking on the relevant link on the gateway page: breo.beds.ac.uk

The following information is provided as guidance only.
- It is advised that Studiosity is used after you have generated about 100 - 200 words for each assignment.
- This will give the system enough information to provide advice on all five features of good academic writing, as it checks through the submitted text.
- Once the system has given advice, it is recommended that it be applied to develop writing skills.
- We recommend that Studiosity is used multiple times during a course of study as new text is developed for each assignment.
Yes, you can.
Please book an appointment with a Learning Development Tutor by e-mailing LearningDevelopment@beds.ac.uk through your university e-mail address.
Please be aware that using a non-university (personal email address) may lead to your message being blocked by the University’s firewall.
- Feedback from Studiosity is not a substitute for feedback from academic staff.
- Studiosity writing specialists do not comment on subject-specific content or indicate the overall quality of the assignment. Students submit draft assignments to receive feedback on grammar, spelling, structure and referencing.
- Staff should advise students to give Studiosity 48 hours’ notice, although turnaround time is often much faster and can take as little as two hours.
- Studiosity will provide feedback on assignments of up to 5,000 words.
- Studiosity provision is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
No, it is not. Studiosity can check these ten different document types for:
- Business letter
- Business Report
- Case study
- CV, Resume, or Cover Letter
- Essay
- Reflective Writing
- Scientific report
- Short Answers or Paragraphs
- Short story
- Speech
Considerations include the selection of appropriate language, accurate grammar and spelling, inclusion of references for information sources, a coherent text structure, and clear elements of critical thinking.
Each person approaches writing differently, so the following information is offered as general guidance only.
It’s recommended to submit an assignment to Studiosity at least twice before turning it in for marking.
The first time an assignment is submitted via Studiosity will provide feedback to help improve the quality of academic writing. Use this feedback to revise your work, then submit it again for a second review. Studiosity will provide a fresh set of comments on the revised draft. Incorporate these final suggestions before submitting the assignment for marking.
