Sue Shutter joined the University of Bedfordshire as Director of Human Resources in 2021, having moved from her previous role as Pro Vice Chancellor, HR and Governance, at Regent’s University, London.

During her time at Regent’s University, Sue developed and delivered the organisational development and culture change, people, wellbeing and equality strategies. Most significantly, Sue played a crucial role in the transformation from a collection of autonomous bodies into a single private university, transforming the people agenda.

Sue has a strong interest in developing inclusive culture that promotes belonging and wellbeing. Her achievements have received recognition from HR Magazine, as one of one of the most influential practitioners, and have also seen her shortlisted for HR Director of the Year.

Sue has also held variety of roles such as; Head of HR at Oxford City Council and Director of HR and Governance for the Chiltern & South Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust, where she led a major initiative that contributed to the Trust gaining four-star trust status.

Sue is a fellow of the CIPD and is a coach and mentor for leadership and professional development.
