I'm the Founder and Managing Director of MyNewTerm
Following completion of my teacher training at the University of Bedfordshire I went into teaching and thoroughly enjoyed teaching secondary students Mathematics and Business.
I then went on to work in EdTech and worked with teachers and schools across the country. Throughout all of this period I was working on the development of my own technology business. This all started back in 2014 when I enrolled on the Binnovative programme at the University of Bedfordshire. I was delighted to win this programme and secured £1500 in start-up funding. This was the catalyst to progress from simply an idea into the formal development of the web application. The initial prototype was developed with the support of academies and postgraduate students at the University and we were delighted to win at the Biztech awards for ‘Most innovative and creative student project’. This provided a real confidence boost and we continue to work with academics at the University to develop the technology before formally launching MyNewTerm to schools in September 2017.
The application has proven hugely successful with both schools and candidates and we now seamlessly connects thousands of candidates with schools each and every month. We continue to invest in the technology and in 2020 launched the mobile iOS/Android Apps utilising API technologies. We have ambitious plans for growth with the aim of supporting schools and multi-academy trusts nationally to improve efficiency, ensure compliance and increase candidate attraction utilising our innovative and cost-effective technology application.
Without the PGCE from the University of Bedfordshire I would not be running the very successful business we have today which both employs local people and also supports people from across the region to find and apply for roles in education.
I found the support from the University excellent. I have worked with many academics over the years.
