A week-long campaign to encourage women to get more active at the University of Bedfordshire saw more women enjoying sport.

To support British Universities & Colleges Sport’s (BUCS) This Girl Can initiative, the University’s Get into Sport programme ran a number of free sporting activities free of charge to encourage more females to get active.

Along with bowling, badminton, rugby and hockey, female staff and students were also offered self-protection workshops.

The University’s Sports Project Officer Chloe Baxter said: “As a female who plays sport myself, I know how difficult it can be and the barriers that girls face when trying to get active.

“I hope the week opened people’s eyes up to the amazing females we have at our University and encourage more girls to get involved in all levels of sport and fitness. Everyone has to start somewhere and now is the perfect time to start.”

Get into Sport aims to get more students and staff involved in sport and physical activity whilst they are at the University.
