Bedfordshire sees significant improvement in University league table ranking
Mon 27 April, 2015Bedfordshire's rise of seven places in this year's Complete University Guide league table is due to the dedication and hard work of teaching and research staff, the University's Vice Chancellor has said.
Commenting on the publication of the 2016 Guide, Bill Rammell said:
"The welcome improvement in the University of Bedfordshire’s ranking is testament to the commitment, hard work and dedication of our teaching and research staff, who are wholly committed to providing our students with the best possible experience."
Despite the Guide still using measures that tend to favour older and more established institutions, the University of Bedfordshire has risen seven places, from 117 to 110, and is one of the top 15 risers in the country. The rise is also the biggest amongst universities in the region and is greater than the University's main competitors, securing Bedfordshire's position above other universities such as Anglia Ruskin, Leeds Beckett, Southampton Solent, University of East London, London South Bank, London Metropolitan, Bucks New University, Bolton University, Sunderland University, and Cumbria University.
Bill Rammell added:
“Bedfordshire is ranked the first in the country for improving the student experience, we continue to invest in high-quality student facilities, our student-staff ratio has improved markedly, our courses are driven by world-leading research, more of Bedfordshire’s students are leaving with good honours and the employability prospects of our graduates continues to rise.
“Bedfordshire is a University making positive progress. We are a new university blazing a trail in widening access to higher education and are proud of our student body – an international network of creative self-starters with the desire to make a real difference. We will continue to provide an educational experience that enables our students to transform their lives.”
