Making Clearing clearer

Clearing is just another way to apply to university and thousands of students successfully get a place at university through Clearing each year. It can be an anxious time and you need to act quickly. We've put together some key information below to help prepare you for applying.

Clearing is just another route you can use to apply to university. It's an ideal way for you to find another course, if your results do not meet the conditions of your offers.

It is also used by applicants who have chosen to wait before applying to university, or who apply after the 30 June UCAS deadline.

Clearing is available from July to October.
If you have applied through UCAS and you think you may need Clearing, you can do this once you have your exam results; UCAS Track will state if you are eligible. Clearing officially opens at UCAS on Wednesday 5 July 2023.

A-level results day is Thursday 17 August 2023

You can apply as soon as you have your results.

Keep an eye on websites for the universities or colleges you are most interested in. At Bedfordshire, you can search for all courses available through Clearing. Each university website will tell you if they have places available and the grade requirements for the course.

Once you have your grades, we would suggest you start looking at what courses are available in Clearing as soon as you can as; places can go very quickly and you don't want to miss out. Most universities will have an 'apply online' option to assist in the speed of your application.

If you receive an offer from your preferred Clearing choice university, you will need to add this as your choice through UCAS Track; this is the only way to get an official and formal Clearing offer.

If we have places available for your chosen course and you meet the entry requirements then we would be able to consider you for a place through Clearing.

In order to accept a Clearing offer via your UCAS track, you will need to release yourself from the university you are currently holding an offer with.

Most of our courses do not require an interview; however Nursing and some healthcare courses will require one. These will be carried out online and a member of our Clearing team will call or email you to arrange an interview time.

If you receive an offer, you will be sent confirmation via email. This email will confirm the following steps which you need to take to accept the offer.

Add the University of Bedfordshire (B22) as your Clearing choice via UCAS Track.
If your course does not have vacancies published on the UCAS website, you will need to type the institution code (B22) within 'Course code' and select 'Other'.
A new box will appear where you can enter the relevant course code - for example, N420 - into the relevant fields on UCAS Track.
Email Admissions at admission@beds.ac.uk to confirm that you wish to accept our offer. You will be given a deadline by which time you need to accept and refer your application to us via UCAS Track.
If you are holding a place at another university, you will need to get released before you can refer your application. Applicants are able to self-release via UCAS Track.
